PARTNERS

On industry side three partners, each of them in a leading or unique position in their market have been brought together. IBM Research – Zurich (IBM) will provide leading-edge tools for characterization and contribute its expertise in characterization techniques such as noise-free labs for low-level measurements.

AIXTRON (AIX) is the world’s leading supplier of equipment for semiconductor epitaxy. It already produces also equipment for CNT growth on substrates and wafers.

Gold Standard Simulations (GSS) is a UK based SME, recently acquired by Synopsys Inc., specialised in providing simulation services and software for the semiconductor and design industry. GSS will complement the modeling and simulation activities within CONNECT by providing a software tool-chain for the 3D simulation of statistical variability, working in close cooperation with UG and CNRS.

The CONNECT consortium is built around experienced R&D partner from the two leading European Semiconductor cluster in Grenoble and Dresden.

Fraunhofer Gesellschaft (FHG) as coordinator and Commissariat à l'Energie Atomique et aux Energies Alternatives (CEA) as second main partner are creating the backbone of the consortia. They will develop the technology to manufacture CNT and composite interconnects.

The Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) as the largest fundamental research organization in Europe will contribute by means of the Montpellier Laboratory of Informatics, Robotics, and Microelectronics (LIRMM in French) in close cooperation with Device Modelling Group (DMG) of the University of Glasgow (UG), a leading specialised device modelling group, dedicated to device modelling and simulation of advanced semiconductor technology.

Altogether CONNECT consortium is set up as a well-balanced and very experienced team. To reach the ambitious goals in CONNECT, such a European consortium is absolutely necessary to bring together the competencies of experts from all across Europe. It would be impossible to find comparable complementarities and suitability for the work proposed within a single EU country.
